Step-by-step setup

Open your target agent
In Copilot Studio, open the agent where you want to add N-able MCP.
Note: Add MCP from inside the Agent builder only.

Go to Tools and add MCP server
Open the Tools tab.
Click Add Tool.
Select MCP server.

Configure MCP details
Enter MCP server details.
Set Authentication to API Key.
Set Header name to Authorization.
Click Create.

Create first connection
Copilot validates MCP only after a successful initial connection.
Open the Connection dropdown.
Create a new connection.
Paste the full token value: Bearer <API TOKEN>.
Click Create.
Confirm the green check.
Click Add and configure.
Note: This puts you back into the Agent builder but inside the tool you just added.

Confirm MCP tools are available
In the tool view, confirm available MCP tools were discovered.
Enable/disable specific tools with toggles if needed.
Use the back arrow to return to main agent configuration.

Handle first-time re-authentication
If prompted, open Connection manager.
Click Connect.
Return to the agent and click Retry.
Note: Each user must authenticate using their own Bearer API token.

Run a simple first test
Start simple, then increase query complexity after basic validation.
